January 11, 2022: “DamNation” | The Problem with Hydropower - I watched at a
documentary today about the evolution of our thinking about building dams for
flood control and navigation purposes. In recent years much of our thinking has
evolved to better understand that the benefit of the dams does not outweigh the
damage to the environment. According to an introduction to the documentary, “This
film explores the evolution of our national attitude from pride in big dams as
engineering wonders to the growing awareness that our own future is bound to
the life and health of wild rivers.
