Flyer, information and entry form for the Easter 5K Run to the Cross April 19, 2014 at Taylorsville United Methodist Church
Flyer, information
and entry form for the Easter 5K Run to the Cross April 19, 2014 at Taylorsville
United Methodist Church
According to information from the Taylorsville United
Methodist Church website, the first ever ‘Run to the Cross’ will take place
this Saturday in Taylorsville, Carroll County, Maryland.
If you are looking to get outside after a long-cold winter
of being cooped-up inside, this is a great family event for everyone to enjoy –
and celebrate spring and Easter. And oh, was it mentioned that there will also
be great food available - pulled pork sandwiches. And all the proceeds go to
several good causes…
The 5 K run will go from South Carroll High School to
Taylorsville United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. (TUMC).
(You can run this or walk this 5 K.)
This 5 K run will travel west on Route 26, cross Route 27
(with State Police help) and travel south on Route 27 to TUMC.
At the end of the race enjoy live music, pulled pork
sandwiches (free for runners) and the final awards ceremony.
This run is a joint venture brought to you by TUMC and
SCHS’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes. (FCA)
Proceeds will be given to both the FCA
and the No More Malaria Campaign.
(Every 60 seconds a child dies in Africa of Malaria. This campaign has already
cut that number in half, we want to stop deaths from malaria.) Your entry fee
will be tax deductible.
There are two ways to register: One is to download the run
entry form, fill it out, and mail it back to TUMC along with a check. Please
register by April 6th. The registration fee is $10 for students; $15 for SCHS
Alum; and $20 for adults.
The second way to register is to click below. Make sure you
have a credit card ready and you can register totally on line.
Note there is a 2-4 dollar increase to offset on-line costs.

While many Christian congregations have activities or
services scheduled for Maundy Thursday or Good Friday, Easter Saturday is often
a quiet day that slips by before the celebrations on Easter Sunday.
But Taylorsville United Methodist Church is hoping to start
a new Easter Saturday tradition with the “Run to the Cross” 5K race.
“The whole point is you’re running to the cross the day
before Easter and looking to see it’s empty, and the next day you’re going to
see that the tombstone is rolled away,” said the Rev. Sarah Dorrance, pastor of
Taylorsville UMC. “It’s very specific, rain or shine, on Easter Saturday.”
Dorrance said she got the idea of the church hosting a 5K
race while talking to colleagues from other parts of the country. Read more

May 15, 1995 pathogenesis
in boxwoods consult.
This is an outline
of etiologies that can individually or can concurrently contribute to
pathogenesis in boxwoods.
In my practice as
a property manager, landscape designer and horticultural consultant, 1974-1999,
I had done a number of boxwood consults.
Boxwoods remain
first among equals as to some of my favorite plants. In addition, a 31-foot
tall and 22-foot wide Buxus sempervirens on my farm, is a big tree champ in
Maryland.
After a consult
in 1995, I took it upon myself to compile and loosely organize all my sources
into a spiral bound notebook for easy access. This is the result of that file
maintenance.
I might add, this
information has been compiled and assembled from multiple documented and cited,
and undocumented and uncited sources over many-many years – no claim to
original authorship is either claimed or implied. If anyone feels there is any
breach of copyright, this is not my intent - so please notify me so I can
correct the error. May 15, 1995 – April 12, 2014 kevindayhoff@gmail.com

K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen
K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen
416 Chartres Street
(in between Conti and St. Louis Streets)
New Orleans, LA 70130
Friday, March 28,
2014 in between visits to the New Orleans Historic Collections museum campus…
According to the K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen website:
In
1979, when Chef Paul Prudhomme and his late wife, K, opened their
"modest", 62-seat K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen on Chartres Street in
the historic French Quarter of New Orleans, they had no idea the restaurant was
soon to become a sensation, with nightly lines of eager diners waiting
sometimes hours to be seated. That was back in the days when K-Paul's didn't
accept reservations or credit cards! But now, under the hands-on direction of
Chef Paul Prudhomme, the restaurant has gone through major changes to keep up
with the growing demands of its clients and the times.
Based
on the designs of the original 1834 structure, K-Paul's was extensively
refurbished and expanded in 1996 and now offers seating for more than 200
dining guests. Dining areas include seasonal balcony dining, spacious dining
rooms on both the first and second floors and an intimate climate-controlled
courtyard for dining al fresco. K's Parlor, an enclosed private room on the
second floor, is host to parties, corporate events, and other special
occasions. Both floors feature an open kitchen where diners can see exactly how
each delectable dish is prepared. K-Paul's gladly accepts reservations and
offers catering on-site or anywhere around the world.
Executive
Chef Paul Miller goes to great lengths to ensure the highest quality food. He
states, "We have three kitchens and a bakery at K-Paul's and the
philosophy and commitment to excellence will never change. There are still no
freezers in the restaurant and only the freshest ingredients of the highest
quality are used. This is why we change our menu daily."
Chef
Paul Prudhomme and the entire staff of K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen cordially
welcome you to our restaurant to experience all that we offer.
