Sergey Ivanovich Taneyev (November 25, 1856 – June 19, 1915) was a composer dubbed by Tchaikovsky as 'the Russian Bach'. Also a pianist, theorist and teacher, he began his career as something of a child prodigy and was appointed director of Moscow Conservatoire at just 29.
