Godsmack - I Stand Alone

Godsmack - I Stand Alone

May 18, 2002:

Now I've told you this once before
You can't control me
If you try to take me down you're gonna break
Now I feel your every nothing that you're doing for me…

GODSMACK LYRICS
"I Stand Alone"

Now I've told you this once before
You can't control me
If you try to take me down you're gonna break
Now I feel your every nothing that you're doing for me
I'm picking you outta me
you run away
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
You're always hiding behind your so called goddess
So what you don't think that we can see your face
Resurrected back before the final fallen
I'll never rest until I can make my own way
I'm not afraid of fading
I stand alone
Feeling your sting down inside of me
I'm not dying for it
I stand alone
Everything that I believe is fading
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
And now its my time (now its my time)
It's my time to dream (my time to dream)
Dream of the sky (dream of the sky)
Make me believe that this place isn't plagued
By the poison in me
Help me decide if my fire will burn out
Before you can breathe
Breathe into me
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
Feeling your sting down inside of me
I'm not dying for it
I stand alone
Everything that I believe is fading
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone

Happy Birthday Superman.

Happy Birthday Superman.

Happy Birthday Superman. Superman was born, Kal-El, on the planet Krypton, on this day, Feb. 29. According to multiple sources including many published editions in the 1960s, and in particular, Action Comics #655 published July 1990. This was the cover for an unpublished comic proposal by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster for "Superman,” in Jan. 1933 - which they unsuccessfully submitted to Humor Publications.

History.com: Sep 13, 1996 Tupac Shakur dies

History.com: Sep 13, 1996 Tupac Shakur dies

Sep 13, 1996:

Tupac Shakur dies

Hip hop star Tupac Shakur dies on September 13, 1996 of gunshot wounds suffered in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting.

More than a decade after his death on this day in 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur remains one of the most recognizable faces and voices in hip-hop. A steady stream of posthumous album releases has kept his name near the top of lifetime sales rankings, and artistic efforts like the 2003 film Tupac: Resurrection have kept his image and music current among fans who were far too young to have seen and heard him perform while he was still alive. His recording career came to an end with his death at the age of 25, but like another famous rapper with whom his story is intertwined, Shakur has only grown in stature with each passing year since his still-unsolved murder.

First legislative assembly in America — History.com This Day in History — 7/30/1619

First legislative assembly in America — History.com This Day in History — 7/30/1619:

"In Jamestown, Virginia, the first elected legislative assembly in the New World--the House of Burgesses--convenes in the choir of the town's church.

Earlier that year, the London Company, which had established the Jamestown settlement 12 years before, directed Virginia Governor Sir George Yeardley to summon a "General Assembly" elected by the settlers, with every free adult male voting. Twenty-two representatives from the 11 Jamestown boroughs were chosen, and Master John Pory was appointed the assembly's speaker. On July 30, the House of Burgesses (an English word for "citizens") convened for the first time"

On this day in 1895, the world's first commercial movie screening takes place at the Grand Cafe in Paris. The film was made by Louis and Auguste Lumiere, two French brothers who developed a camera-projector called the Cinematographe. The Lumiere brothers unveiled their invention to the public in March 1895 with a brief film showing workers leaving the Lumiere factory. On December 28, the entrepreneurial siblings screened a series of short scenes from everyday French life and charged admission for the first time... read more

LIBRARY MAKING AN APPEAL - The Westminster Public Library is again making its annual appeal to the citizens of Westminster.

February is known as Library Month and it is hoped that many generous contributions will be received.

Present members of the Library are urged to renew their memberships, and now members are welcome to join, at any time. The fee is $1.00 per year and may be sent to the Librarian. Mrs. Martha Shaw, or to the treasurer, Mr. C. Ray Fogle.

The Library is open on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturday evenings from 6:30 to 8, also Thursday morning from 10 to 12.

Many new and interesting books have been added during the past year, especially in the juvenile section. Parents are urged to come and bring the children as there is something for all ages.

Adult Education Course Offered On Alcohol Problem

Possibly the first course like it in the State of Maryland will be offered in the Carroll County School system through the Adult Education Division. The title of this course will be "Alcohol and Adolescents."

Its subject is a comprehensive look at the drug alcohol, its effects psychologically, sociologically and physically on humans, including an understanding of the disease of alcoholism, its effects on families and communities, plus a glimpse at its treatment.

This course will be aimed at helping parents feel more comfortable with communicating with their children around the inevitable contact the children will have with alcohol.
