The Red Sparrows

The Red Sparrows

Daring rescues by aviation emergency medical personnel and amazing fire aviation fire suppression tactics breathtakingly demonstrated in this video.

Retrieved August 17, 2010

This video captures daring, if not heroic and death-defying aeronautical acrobatics by English firefighters from the Hampshire of the Basingstoke Fire Brigade, in their flying machines.

Daring rescues by aviation emergency medical personnel and amazing fire aviation fire suppression tactics are all breathtakingly demonstrated in this heretofore lost but fortunately recently found – and rediscovered video. Not for the faint of heart.

Take your tongue in cheek and dare to walk on the wild side and enjoy “The Red Sparrows,” in action.

Do not like new Gmail contacts preview Revert to google contacts old version Left-hand menu, click “more” then “leave the contacts preview”

I do not care for the new Gmail “contacts preview.” How revert to google contacts old version… In the left-hand menu, click “more” and then “leave the contacts preview”

It seems that when Google Gmail “helps me” and automatically puts information in the name fields – it invariably puts the first, middle, and last name in the incorrect fields – and then when I look it up in my Droid phone, I cannot easily find the contact alphabetically – by last name… The new contacts preview does not seem to allow the user to input the name fields.

America's streets are in terrible shape. And I'm not talking about potholes, busted curbs or blinky street lights.

No, the problem is that so many of our streets are really mean. This meanness is sweeping the country and spreading to foreign lands.

I made this discovery recently after hearing a TV war correspondent refer to snipers shooting people on "the mean streets of Sarajevo."

It seemed to me that I had read or heard the phrase "mean streets" before.

Using a computer service, I searched for the words "mean streets" in dozens of newspapers.

The search covered only the first five months of this year. But the results were frightening. Here are just a few of the mean streets that were found.

In the end, the Windows 10 upgrade failed. No surprise here.

Update: One Win 10 upgrade fail. One success. Fail probably due to a drive failure... On a different computer, the success is working great.

Update 2 August 5, 2015: Two successes. One Win 10 upgrade fail. One success. Fail probably due to a drive failure... On a different computers, the successes are working great.

A friend suggested, “Get an Apple.” I have an Apple and I was a pathetic Apple immigrant. Threw my hands up the air and went back to PC. But Caroline gets along with the Apple just great. Me, not so much. In the end, I gotta get my work finished... My editors do not care what I use to write stories - they just care that I get them written.

The Great Guinea Pig Uprising – when guinea pigs attack.

The Great Guinea Pig Uprising – when guinea pigs attack.

August 29, 2007 from writing book #7 “Boston: Edward Hooper, Poet of the Ordinary – A stranger in a world he never made...” Kevin Dayhoff

So now that I have the title, I just need to develop a plot and characters.

I should probable consult and collaborate with the Scotts, they have that large farming operation just south of Westminster. Karen and Harold Scott, Lindsey and Shannon.

Maybe a subplot might be: Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— Ephesians 6: 10-18

Oh, the image comes from an article in the www.dailymail.co.uk a number of years ago…. Chainmail guinea pig outfit set to sell for over $24,000 as . Trendsetter: An unexpected bidding war has erupted on eBay over this chainmail guinea pig outfit… The article is from June 20, 2013 and is, well, hysterical. Find it here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2345120/Chainmail-guinea-pig-outfit-set-sell-24-000-extreme-animal-lovers-spark-eBay-bidding-war.html

Related: Edward Hopper

July 6, 2009

For whatever reason, recently several folks have asked where they may find my essays on Edward Hopper.  There are two.  One may be found in The Tentacle here: Edward Hopper: Poet of the ordinary

And another was posted here: Originally posted September 10, 2007

Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks," 1942, oil on canvas, depicts a voyeuristic portrayal of ambiguous urban alienation and impersonalization as three customers and a soda jerk spend time together in the harsh glare of artificial light in the middle of the night.

The voyeuristic stark world of American Scene realist artist Edward Hopper was recently displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

There is a certain unexplainable enigma that draws folks back again and again to ponder the mysteries of Edward Hopper's "American Scene" paintings.

Perhaps it is Hopper's peculiar way of depicting the stark existence of the human condition in such a simple "language" which begs for questions ... yet offers no answers.

Mooses Come Walking by Arlo Guthrie

Mooses Come Walking

by Arlo Guthrie

Mooses come walking over the hill
Mooses come walking, they rarely stand still
When mooses come walking they go where they will
When mooses come walking over the hill

Mooses look into your window at night
They look to the left and they look to the right
The mooses are smiling, they think it's a zoo
And that's why the mooses like looking at you

So, if you see mooses while lying in bed
It's best to just stay there pretending you're dead
The mooses will leave and you'll get the thrill
Of seeing the mooses go over the hill
