Do not like new Gmail contacts preview Revert to google contacts old version Left-hand menu, click “more” then “leave the contacts preview”

I do not care for the new Gmail “contacts preview.” How revert to google contacts old version… In the left-hand menu, click “more” and then “leave the contacts preview”

It seems that when Google Gmail “helps me” and automatically puts information in the name fields – it invariably puts the first, middle, and last name in the incorrect fields – and then when I look it up in my Droid phone, I cannot easily find the contact alphabetically – by last name… The new contacts preview does not seem to allow the user to input the name fields.

4 Gmail Hacks That Will Change The Way You Work | Fast Company | Business + Innovation

4 Gmail Hacks That Will Change The Way You Work | Fast Company | Business + Innovation:

IF OPENING YOUR INBOX GIVES YOU A PANIC ATTACK, TRY THESE SIMPLE MOVES TO MAKE GMAIL FEEL MORE MANAGEABLE.

BY MADISON FELLER, LEVO LEAGUE

I’ll be honest—I’ve had mixed feelings about Gmail. Sometimes it’s fantastic, like when my best friend and I send each other cool links all morning while simultaneously talking on Gchat. But other times, as I’m watching my inbox fill up at the speed of light, it can just be overwhelming. Gmail and I have finally come to a mutually respectful relationship (think Kanye’s post-VMA apology to T-Swift), but it’s been a long road. These four hacks have paved the way, and once you’ve got them down, I promise Gmail will feel like a whole new ball game...

Rediscover Gmail Labels and Finally Tame Your Inbox Written by Mihir Patkar February 18, 2015

Rediscover Gmail Labels and Finally Tame Your Inbox

Written by Mihir Patkar February 18, 2015 @mihirpatkar http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/author/mihir/

From one freelancer to another; I really appreciate your work on http://www.makeuseof.com/ Thanks

Sooner or later, everyone’s Gmail inbox becomes an overwhelming mess. There are plenty of tricks to deal with email overload, but there’s one right under your nose that you might not be using: good old Gmail labels.

Labels have been around for a long time now, so they have almost become blind spots for many of us. I’ve been a Gmail user since its inception, but I never used labels till recently. It has entirely changed how I approach email, finally helping me tame my inbox.

Using labels successfully depends on a few core productivity principles, just like any to-do management system. Here are the tricks that helped me and can help you too.

Read more here: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/rediscover-gmail-labels-finally-tame-inbox/ I routinely read many pieces on technology tips and hacks – and I really appreciate the approach of Mr. Patkar.

Leaked screenshots show a brand new look for Gmail | PCWorld by Nick Mediati

Leaked screenshots show a brand new look for Gmail | PCWorld:

Nick Mediati @dtnick May 11, 2014

I’ll be honest—I’m not a big fan of Gmail’s Web interface. It’s clumsy, it’s awkward, and it takes quite a bit of getting used to. But if a set of apparently leaked screenshots are any indication, Google might be about to update Gmail in a big way.

The images, which Geek.com published on Friday, reportedly show an in-the-works version of Gmail’s Web interface, along with a number of new features." Read more: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2153621/leaked-screenshots-show-a-brand-new-look-for-gmail.html#tk.nl_pcwbest

Slashdot: Google has unofficially announced the GDrive

Friday, January 30, 2009

According to Slashdot: An anonymous reader writes "Google has unofficially announced the GDrive by source code. In an in-direct way Google has publicly advertised the new much anticipated online storage drive called the GDrive.

If you take a look at the source code of some javascript within the Google Pack, you will clearly see the GDrive referenced. The code categorizes the GDrive as an 'Online file backup and storage' device.

It also provides the following descriptions; 'GDrive provides reliable storage for all of your files, including photos, music and documents' and 'GDrive allows you to access your files from anywhere, anytime, and from any device — be it from your desktop, web browser or cellular phone'"
